Friendship is a quirky thing--
It grows haphazardly.
Some come fast and some come slow
And some, so trickily,
You do not know have grown at all
Until they’re there and standing tall.
Then shines its light into our lives
And gradually we realize
The wisdom of our Father’s plan
To give us each a role to fill
To watch o’er someone else’s life,
To guard and guide, to help and heal.
Some friendships bloom so bright and fast,
And some, we grieve, just cannot last.
Yet some endure, most fair and bright,
To fill our lives with heaven’s light,
To lift our souls, make glad our days,
To help us mend our wayward ways.
Each friend a dearest, treasured gift,
An angel there to help and lift.
This day I thank my Lord above
For blessing me with those I love;
For friends that grew both fast and slow;
For each of those who help me know
That I am loved by God and man
In His eternal, joyful Plan.
